James Goodall Rosewood Standard Cutaway Gloss Natural 1994 Hand-Made Acoustic Gloss Natural - RefurbishedThis is a Goodall Rosewood Standard Cutaway in Gloss Natural finish. Since building his first guitar in 1972, James Goodall has gone on to become one of the finest luthiers producing hand-made acoustic guitars today. Now a family business, James and his son Luke’s workshop produce just two guitars of the finest quality each week. Made in Hawaii. USA in 1994, the fairly early example of Goodall's fantastic work features an all-solid bolt-on construction comprising a Sitka Spruce top, Indian Rosewood back and sides, Mahogany neck and 20 fret Ebony fingerboard with matching bridge. The body is double-bound in Koa, whilst the top is handsomely adorned with an Abalone rosette. Abalone is also selected for the diamond fingerboard inlays and headstock logo. Chrome Schaller tuning machines with Ebony buttons are fitted, along with a Bone saddle & nut. An LR Baggs Anthem pickup system has been fitted, and completes a very well appointed instrument. The Mahogany neck plays very well, with a profile that might be described as a rather shallow 'C' shape which offers ergonomic thumb positioning and smooth articulate playability across the register. Certainly on the slimmer side, the neck is exceptionally playable for an acoustic guitar, feeling smooth & easy in a wide variety of contexts. The Ebony of the fingerboard is of the highest quality, with a very dark appearance and tight grain, the playing surface feels fantastic under the fingers. This, along with the Abalone inlays add a real sense of luxury to the playing experience, whilst the generous cutaway enhances access to the upper register. The acoustic voice of the Goodall Rosewood Standard is rich and exceptionally well balanced. The bass response is deep and sumptuous, adding a real sense of character to the overall sound. Mids are open and clear, whilst the top end is bright and shimmering. This makes every note played on the instrument shimmer with a lush and luxurious tone that you would not normally expect from such a large body shape. The Sitka Spruce top projects very well, producing plenty of volume and a wide dynamic range which feels nicely responsive to the player's touch. The addition of LR Baggs' excellent Anthem system means you can use the instrument in both recording & live situations with ease. A beautifully hand crafted instrument which exemplifies the Goodall family's stellar work. A pair of Gibson Burstbucker pickups are installed, with a BB2 in the neck and a BB3 in the bridge. These are wired to the standard Les Paul controls, with reproduction Bumblebee capacitors. The neck controls use Amber control knobs, and the bridge Gold Top Hat knobs. The Mahogany neck plays very well, with a profile which is certainly vintage-inspired and rather on the chunky side. Not at all cumbersome, but definitely carrying plenty of character that produces a unique playing experience amongst modern guitars. The Rosewood of the fingerboard is incredibly dark in appearance - Gibson Custom clearly know how to select their tonewoods carefully. It feels nicely luxurious under the fingers, and provides a robust playing surface. The Medium frets feel great for vibrato & string bending techniques, and ensure that the playing experience is smooth in all fingerboard positions. It really is a great playing Les Paul. The use of the two different saddle materials is interesting, as Bonamassa says that the Nylon saddles are better for the plain strings. Amplified, the pair of Gibson Burstbucker 2 & 3 humbucking pickups deliver unmistakable Les Paul tones, perfect for the classic blues rock that Bonamassa is known for. Gibson's Burstbuckers are designed to be a replica of the famous PAF pickups that were shipped in early Les Paul models. The BB2 in the neck is round and powerful, pushing lead lines and solos to the front of the mix with ease and producing a rich, meaty growl. The BB3 in the bridge is of course hotter & brighter, and saturates into a thick distortion when driving the amp hard. It's Perfect for bluesy riffing and rhythm sounds. The controls are as comprehensive as ever, with the vintage-spec wiring & Bumblebee capacitors ensuring that the tone is authentic as possible. A serious guitar that doubles as an investment collector's piece. Luthier Report Our ID: 1140825125975 Weight: 9.1lbs Serial: JOE B 024 Aesthetic Condition: Headstock: Overall very good condition. Gibson Les Paul Standard Heritage Cherry Sunburst Candy 2015 Electric Guitar Candy Sunburst - RefurbishedThis is a Gibson Les Paul Standard Electric Guitar in Heritage Cherry Sunburst Candy finish. Made in the USA in 2015, this guitar consists of a Mahogany body with an AA Flamed Maple top, a Mahogany neck, and a 22-fret Rosewood fingerboard. Other appointments include Grover tuners, a Chrome Tune-O-Matic bridge and a stopbar tailpiece. The pickups installed on this guitar are a set of Gibson Burstbucker Pro Humbuckers. These are wired to a 3-way toggle switch, neck volume (push/pull - coil split ), neck tone (push/pull - phase reverse in middle position), bridge volume (push/pull - coil split), and a bridge tone (push/pull - bridge pickup control bypass). The Mahogany neck plays very well, with the Asymmetrical SlimTaper profile feeling slender in the hand without being too thin. Being slightly chunkier on the bass side and slimmer on the treble side creates a feeling of dependability whilst remaining articulate enough for technical playing. The traditional 12" fingerboard radius strikes the perfect balance between comfortable chord playing and smooth lead lines, making for a truly authentic yet refined Les Paul playing experience. The pair of Gibson Burstbucker Pro humbuckers in this guitar offer warm and rich tones, exactly as you would expect from a Les Paul. The neck position is thick and creamy, saturating beautifully into full-bodied distortion as you crank the gain. The bridge position is as bright and biting as you could ever need, helping you to cut through any mix with your rock rhythm tones. The addition of individual coil splits add versatility with thinner tones on offer, whilst phase reverse and control bypass functions ensure this is a very practical instrument. This guitar truly is a fantastic celebration of its inventor's 100th birthday.
